Editorial standards and corrections
Source attribution
Every collected story retains its original source link and publication date. Source excerpts are brief and attributed. Photos and video come from feed attachments or the original article’s image metadata. When no usable source photo is available, a clearly labelled club news graphic is shown; it does not depict the reported event. We do not use unrelated stock or generated event photos. Attribution alone does not prove an image’s authenticity.
What the labels mean
Official source indicates a direct official source, not independent verification. Reported identifies publisher reporting that we have not independently verified. Rumour flags speculative wording automatically; this classifier can miss nuance or misclassify a headline.
AI disclosure
AI-generated authorship is disclosed separately from the claim’s classification. Generated text cannot verify itself. Source stories remain available independently of AI processing. When model access is configured, a separate model call reviews each generated brief against its supplied evidence. Passing checks is not independent verification. Unsupported drafts are held automatically; model errors can still occur.
Corrections
When a publisher changes a feed headline, date or excerpt, our next successful collection updates the same story record. Any AI brief based on changed evidence is hidden until it passes review again. Readers can flag a specific error through that story’s comment form, include the source supporting a correction, and mark the message “Correction”. Submissions enter the operator’s moderation queue; this is not an instant correction service.
Story order and reader activity
For you combines your club selection, story freshness and recent reader interest. Latest orders substantive headline and excerpt updates; a feed timestamp or repeated copy alone does not refresh a story. Popular uses recent article reads after 15 visible seconds, saves and watches, with time decay and daily limits. These are observed interactions, not verified unique people or social-network popularity. We do not invent engagement counts. Classification and grouping use automated rules and can miss nuance.
Reader signals use a daily keyed hash of network address and browser information to limit duplicate actions. Raw addresses are not stored in the ranking tables. Signals expire after seven days, and the browser honours Do Not Track for these requests. Club follows, watches and catch-up history remain in your browser.
Reading personalization uses an anonymous first-party browser identifier for up to 30 days. We record which recommended stories were visibly shown, their position, opens, 15-second reads, saves, watches and “Less like this” feedback. These signals help order stories within your selected clubs. Recommendation records and reading sequences expire after 30 days; raw search queries, email addresses and network addresses are not stored in these tables. Switch off “Reading personalization” on the home page to clear this browser’s recommendation history. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control disable this collection. Following clubs continues to work when personalization is off.
