Kai Havertz has been Arsenal’s first choice at centre forward this season, with Mikel Arteta selecting the German ahead of Viktor Gyokeres. However, Havertz has not scored as frequently as the club would have expected, raising questions over his consistency in front of goal.
Arsenal have found goals from across the team, with defenders regularly contributing to important victories. Nevertheless, the club invested heavily in both Havertz and Gyokeres, and expects its forwards to deliver regularly.
When Havertz first joined Arsenal, he was not brought in specifically to lead the attack. The club initially viewed him as a midfielder, but Arteta soon recognised that he could be effective as a false nine.
