Arsenal have finally done it! Fourteen years after their last Premier League victory at Anfield, Mikel Arteta’s side have beaten Liverpool 1-0, with Kai Havertz’s first-half goal securing three enormous points in the title race.

Following Manchester City’s surprise defeat to Brighton on Saturday, Arsenal knew victory would put them three points clear at the top. And after the disappointment of their midweek Carabao Cup exit to Fleetwood Town, the Gunners delivered exactly the response supporters were hoping for.

Arsenal started positively, with Declan Rice particularly influential in midfield. The breakthrough arrived in the 16th minute when Martin Ødegaard intercepted a poor pass from Alisson.
