Celtic’s midfield plans remain a talking point after Paulo Bernardo left on loan in August, with Martin O’Neill favouring other options at Parkhead. The Portuguese midfielder had slipped down the pecking order, while summer signing Mika Baur added another contender for central minutes.
That decision gave Bernardo the regular football he wanted, but life in Poland has brought a tougher test than he expected. Górnik Zabrze have made a strong start and sit second in the Ekstraklasa, yet the demands of each match have left little room for a quiet afternoon.
Speaking to Polish outlet Roosevelta 81, the 24-year-old admitted: “It’s very difficult for me. I never imagined it would be this tough.” He explained that Górnik must give everything to avoid dropping points, even while challenging near the top of the table.
