He was a young talent with only a handful of minutes played in the Bundesliga, but he had an established record with Germany's youth national teams and was considered one of the best defensive prospects for the future.
However, his first Serie A season was full of difficulties, to the point that he never featured under Allegri. Last summer, Toulouse, another club within the RedBird network, was chosen as his destination in order to give him more playing time in Ligue 1.
