Harry Kane was crowned the best footballer in the world on Monday evening, but few Tottenham supporters would have been surprised to see their former striker lift the Ballon d’Or.

The 33-year-old became the first Englishman to win the award since Michael Owen in 2001, beating Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal after an outstanding season with Bayern Munich.

Kane scored a staggering 73 goals for club and country during the 2025/26 campaign, a tally bettered in a single season only by Lionel Messi in 2012.
