Barcelona are on the verge of securing Iker Rodriguez’s future, with the final details of a contract renewal for the promising 18-year-old goalkeeper agreed and the signing expected imminently, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.

The Barça Atletic goalkeeper has attracted interest from several European clubs, but the Catalan club view him as a long-term first-team prospect and are set to secure the future of one of Spain’s most promising young goalkeepers.

Barcelona’s sporting department began working on Rodriguez’s renewal in early July after several European clubs expressed interest in signing him. At the time, the goalkeeper’s extension was considered all but certain, but the formal signing was delayed by scheduling issues, administrative procedures and adjustments to the contract wording.
