Report: Xabi Alonso wants reunion with former star
Story updated
The story in brief
7-second readEx-Red is now in charge at Chelsea and wants to once again hook up with a player he had at one of his former clubs
From the source
It looks as though Trent Alexander-Arnold’s time at Real Madrid is coming to an abrupt end. The Englishman, 28, joined Los Blancos from Liverpool in the summer of 2025.
With his contract ticking down ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup kickoff Madrid opted to pay £10m to get him on board a month early.
And ever since he moved to the Spanish capital - under Xabi Alonso - it’s been one calamity after another. This season Trent has suffered due to the signing of Denzel Drumfries - who appears to be ahead of the ex-Liverpool favourite in Jose Mourinho’s pecking order.
