AC Milan head coach Ruben Amorim discussed Gerry Cardinale's 'Top Gun' remark about him and the team's Scudetto aim, according to SempreMilan. Amorim appreciated Cardinale's support, acknowledging the team's need for time to grow and improve. He noted that despite the pain of defeat, the team must be clear with fans about the time required to build a solid foundation. Amorim likened the 'Top Gun' analogy to the team's situation, indicating it made sense but didn't alleviate the pain of loss.
Milan is preparing for a derby match after losing to Bologna 4-2, dropping out of the top four and falling seven points behind league leaders Inter and Lazio. Amorim stated that a victory in the derby is needed to keep pace at the top. The team has some good injury news with Diego Moreira, Mario Gila, and Adrien Rabiot returning. Amorim plans to evaluate their readiness for the derby the following morning.
Amorim emphasized the importance of focusing on the next match rather than long-term goals, stating that Milan's objective is always to win Serie A. He acknowledged that while Cardinale mentioned the Scudetto as a possibility and potential January signings, the team needs to correct recent mistakes and improve step by step. Amorim highlighted the moral obligation to declare winning as the objective but recognized the need to take things one game at a time.

Source context
AC Milan head coach Ruben Amorim has responded to Gerry Cardinale’s words about him being his ‘Top Gun’ and the Scudetto being an aim. For Milan, there is once again the need to bounce back after a negative result. On Wednesday night at San Siro they led at half-time against Bologna, before conceding three times in the second half to eventually lose 4-2. Not only did that knock the Rossoneri out of the top four but it put them seven points behind Inter and Lazio who are the league-leaders at the moment. So, it means that a victory is needed in the derby to keep pace at the top, but there is at least some good injury news: Diego Moreira, Mario Gila and Adrien Rabiot are all back.
