Newcastle's performance was severely lacking, with a non-existent midfield and poor defense. Everton didn't have to be particularly good to win, simply keeping their shape and exploiting Newcastle's weaknesses. The team managed only two shots on target out of 17, highlighting their misfiring attack. Manager Jaissle faces a significant challenge to turn this around.
The team's regression has been notable since a promising start, with some players seemingly having given up. Jaissle's tactics and formation have been questioned, with some players not being utilized effectively. The manager's ability to recover from losing the crowd's support is uncertain. Changes are needed, potentially including more playing time for younger players like Sean Steur.

Source context
United’s performance was worse than abject and, against the backdrop of swirling wind and lashing rain, elements of the crowd (at least those who were left at the end) turned on the team and the manager after the final whistle. The only goal of the game came via Thierno Barry after a horrible mistake by Lukas Hornicek, although he wasn't the only one to blame as others switched off. This version of Newcastle United is a poor side, and that’s an understated way of saying it. There’s hardly anything resembling a goal threat, the defence is old, slow and easily exploited, and the midfield is non-existent to the point of being a caricature of a Premier League midfield.
