One Premier League club is hoping Liverpool come in with an offer. They're looking to complete a £100m deal. Liverpool will try to sign a midfielder at some stage in 2027.
It was the one area of the team that went completely unaddressed in the summer. Or at least, it was with incomings. Changes were made as Curtis Jones left for Inter, with Trey Nyoni receiving a promotion of sorts into the first-team level.
But that only sort of fixes the problems. Liverpool still lack a defensive midfielder or a proper controlling player. There's certainly hope that Nyoni develops into that kind of player and the early signs are promising - but it's still a lot to ask of a teenager in his first full senior campaign.
