Arteta keeps faith as Viktor waits for the spoils

The story in brief
37-second readA month ago, Mikel Arteta said Arsenal needed to support Viktor Gyokeres through a difficult start to the season, backing the Swede to use the international break as a springboard for the rest of the campaign.
The striker could hardly have done more while away with his country, scoring in four consecutive Nations League games. With Kai Havertz nursing a hamstring problem, it seemed likely Gyokeres would lead the line when Leeds visited the Emirates for the resumption of Premier League action.
He had, after all, scored three times against them last season. Instead, Havertz recovered to start, leaving Gyokeres with 22 minutes off the bench. The former Sporting Lisbon man did get the nod against Lille on Tuesday, but endured another frustrating evening as his goalless run in Arsenal colours stretched to 13 matches.
