From the source

Manchester United have not held direct talks with potential managers, despite the building pressure on Michael Carrick. Carrick’s future is in doubt after Manchester United extended their winless run to nine games at Chelsea over the weekend.

A 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge was a third straight loss for United, who sit outside the Premier League relegation places on goal difference. United have been linked with making a change, amid reports of initial discussions with candidates including Antonio Conte and Eddie Howe.

However, The Athletic’s David Ornstein has said the board have not held direct talks with any coaches, and that confidence remains in Carrick to turn results around.
