Manchester United manager Michael Carrick stated that he will do what is best for the club regarding Bruno Fernandes' captaincy ahead of the Bournemouth match. Carrick's comments come after Fernandes criticised his tactics following a 4-1 defeat at Como in the Champions League. The team's performance has been poor, winning just two of 11 matches and sitting 13th in the Premier League. Carrick's future is uncertain, with the club identifying possible replacements.

Carrick emphasized that the team's dynamics and the football club's interests are his top priority. He declined to comment on whether he had spoken to Fernandes about the criticism, stating that he wouldn't go into details at the time. Carrick's response suggests that the decision regarding Fernandes' captaincy will be based on what benefits the club.

Despite Carrick being in charge for the upcoming match against Bournemouth, Manchester United have started looking for a potential replacement. Eddie Howe is considered the top candidate due to his Premier League experience, being director of football Jason Wilcox's preferred choice. Other candidates like Antonio Conte and Fabian Hurzeler are less likely to get the job due to their respective profiles and commitments.
