The full picture
Bayern Munich cruised past Atlético Madrid in a Champions League match, with the visitors taking control despite a lively start from the hosts. Bayern enjoyed over 70 per cent of the ball in the opening 20 minutes, but failed to register a shot. Lennart Karl and Harry Kane threatened midway through the half, firing over and putting an effort just wide, respectively. Atlético Madrid's Alexander Sørloth was handed a chance he couldn't capitalize on.
The deadlock was broken in the 54th minute when Karl scored, stealing possession from Robin Le Normand and firing the visitors into the lead. Joshua Kimmich tested Jan Oblak shortly after the restart, and Atlético Madrid made changes, bringing on Koke, Ademola Lookman, and Lee Kang-in. Marcos Llorente forced Manuel Neuer into his first save of the evening in the 67th minute.
Bayern doubled their lead in the 74th minute when Konrad Laimer hammered in off the crossbar from a tight angle following a clipped ball from Kane. The visitors thought they had a third in the 82nd minute, but Dayot Upamecano's header was ruled out for a foul. Bayern saw out the win, taking three points back to Munich and turning their European form around.

Source context
Looking to get back to winning ways in Europe after drawing 1-1 with Stuttgart last time out, Atlético Madrid made a lively start as Bayern visited the Metropolitano, with talisman Julian Alvarez curling an effort narrowly wide of Manuel Neuer's far post inside three minutes. Bayern then quickly took control, but despite enjoying over 70 per cent of the ball in the opening 20 minutes, they failed to register a shot, while Atléti midfielder Pablo Barrios saw a deflected effort fly just over. Lennart Karl threatened midway through the half, firing over from the edge of the box, while Kane put an effort just wide following a delivery from Konrad Laimer.
