Michael Carrick needs to break this nine-game winless streak against AS Roma, and for that, he will have to take some tough decisions. A spirited first-half performance against Chelsea showed that Man Utd are still up for the fight, but the second-half collapse showed just how low morale is.
The morale change can be brought about only by making some changes that wake up the dressing room at Carrington from its stupor. Kobbie Mainoo’s return to the starting XI will fill Man Utd fans with confidence, while some ruthlessness from Michael Carrick is long overdue.
No prizes for guessing who the goalkeeper will be. Senne Lammens hasn’t been as good as last season, but he’s still a reliable shot-stopper and by far United’s best goalkeeper.
