Jamie Carragher singled out two Liverpool players for praise after the Reds defeated Chelsea in a penalty shootout to advance to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.
With the teams unable to be separated in normal time, it required spot kicks to determine the winner, and Wesley Fofana’s miss at 6-5 sealed the visitors’ fate after Giorgi Mamardashvili had previously saved from Emmanuel Emegha in sudden death.
Andoni Iraola’s side now advance to a quarter-final at home to Bournemouth in mid-December, with the route to a Wembley final very much opening up for the Merseysiders.
