A much-maligned Tottenham youngster has been named in StatMuse’s Premier League Team of the Week following a fine performance at Stamford Bridge. With Spurs having won only once at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League era ahead of Saturday’s game, expectations among Tottenham fans were quite low.
However, Roberto De Zerbi’s new-look Spurs side were not burdened by the fixture’s history, as they delivered a statement display. They controlled the game, starving the home side of possession and emerged deserved 2-0 winners, meaning that they now sit just two points off sixth place.
Mathys Tel has come in for scathing criticism this season for failing to take his opportunities, and he even found himself left out of Tottenham’s matchday squad against Aston Villa last month.
