Chelsea is reportedly considering signing Antonio Rüdiger from Real Madrid, with whom they had a previous stint, as his contract is set to expire in the summer of 2027. The Blues are said to be looking to bring back the German defender, who is expected to leave Real Madrid. Rüdiger is viewed as a potential asset due to his leadership qualities and immediate contribution to the team.

Real Madrid is not planning to offer Rüdiger a contract extension, as he is not considered part of their long-term plans under José Mourinho. Rüdiger is set to turn 34 next March, which may be a factor in this decision. Despite this, he is seen as a valuable asset by Chelsea, likened to Thiago Silva 2.0.

The potential signing is backed by Xabi Alonso, according to a report from Fichajes, citing English outlet Football Insider. Chelsea's interest in Rüdiger is seen as a strategic move to bolster their defense with a seasoned player who can contribute immediately.
