Milan entered the season with a clear lack of defensive cover. Gabbia’s injury hasn’t helped , of course, but the club were aware that they were short at the back – as proven by the late push for Goncalo Inacio – and it hasn’t been fixed yet.
Relying on the inexperienced Valeri Vladimirov and Sankhoun Diawara also hasn’t been seen as a viable option yet . However, it could well become a necessity this month, with the Rossoneri only able to rely on three match-fit central defenders, as well as Filippo Terracciano and Fikayo Tomori.
