From the source

Xabi Alonso was quick to rally around Wesley Fofana, brushing aside a missed penalty. Chelsea took another gut punch at Anfield, bowing out of the Carabao Cup on penalties to Liverpool after fighting to a 1–1 draw.

Wesley Fofana’s blasted spot-kick sealed the exit, rubbing salt into an evening that already saw the backline take a hit with Maxence Lacroix’s injury. That makes it two straight losses for the Blues, fresh off that flat 2–0 derby slip against Spurs.

With the League Cup dusted and the league title realistically out of reach, all the chips are basically on the table for the FA Cup if they want to salvage silverware.
