There are only two months until the January transfer window opens, and Chelsea’s recruitment team is planning for the winter market – and the latest reports will concern Pep Chavarria.
Alonso spent the best part of £130m on new defensive additions in the summer. Emi Martinez, Chavarria, Marco Palestra and Maxence Lacroix have all arrived.
But Martinez and Lacroix have suffered big injuries. Chavarria has been stop-start, playing rotationally with Jorrel Hato. Marco Palestra has only just started to come into the side.
