Romeo Lavia had a standout performance for Chelsea against Man United, according to The Chelsea Chronicle. He dominated the midfield, producing 23 defensive contributions and providing the key assist for Morgan Rogers' goal after winning the ball back. Lavia's performance was marked by 16 line-breaking passes, five tackles, and four interceptions, earning him an 8.9 FotMob rating, his highest to date. He also completed 90 minutes, a feat he had only achieved once before this season.
Lavia's performance was notable not just for its quality but also for making history. He won possession 14 times, the highest by a Chelsea player since Lewis Hall in January 2023, and equaled the joint-highest in the Premier League this term. This achievement was highlighted alongside his other impressive stats, such as seven duels won out of nine and covering 10.7 km.
The Chelsea Chronicle attributes Lavia's strong performance to the influence of his coach, Alonso, suggesting that Alonso is getting the best out of the Belgian midfielder. Lavia had previously received praise from Zinedine Zidane during the international break, but it was against Man United that he consistently showed that form. This was considered his best display for Chelsea, surpassing previous good performances like the one against Liverpool in 2025.

Source context
It is tricky to find a Chelsea player who didn’t play well against Man United on Saturday afternoon. Morgan Rogers takes the applause, but it was another who really sparkled at Stamford Bridge. Wesley Fofana struggled, almost conceding when he gifted possession to Amad Diallo. But even Fofana played well-ish, earning a penalty, boasting the most touches (92), and winning five of eight duels. Josh Acheampong was excellent; Mike Penders will be delighted he stopped Bryan Mbeumo’s effort, and Rogers took his tally to 10 goals and assists in 12 games, but for Romeo Lavia, it was his best display yet.
