France Man of the Match Michael Olise dismisses Ballon d’Or talk with a smile
Story updated
The story in brief
31-second readYou really could just call it the “Michael Olise of the Match” award. France’s manager Zinedine Zidane rested Bayern Munich winger Olise in their last Nations League match of the September international break against Belgium.
This initially seemed to backfire when Belgium took and held a lead throughout much of the match. Then Zidane brought on Lucas De Cunha, Rayan Cherki, and Michael Olise (and later Desiré Doué) to completely turn the match on its head.
Every one of the substitutes did exceptionally well and Doué was also utterly magnificent, but Olise once again stole the show, assisting the winner before netting two goals himself to make the 4-1 final scoreline look massive.
