Manchester City’s second-choice goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli saved two penalty kicks against Brighton, but Enzo Maresca insists there’s ‘no doubt’ about Gigio Donnarumma’s starting status. Argentine goalkeeper Rulli helped Manchester City qualify for the EFL Cup quarter-finals by saving two penalties in a 4-3 shoot-out win over Brighton on Wednesday. A reporter asked Maresca whether Rulli’s performance would put pressure on Italy international Donnarumma, but the Italian tactician replied: “No, absolutely no; not from my point of view. He [Rulli] is working well, but he knows exactly his role; there isn’t any doubt about it.” Donnarumma is the Italy national team captain and has just started his second season at Manchester City.
