Chelsea fans are discussing Moises Caicedo's ideal midfield partner, with Romeo Lavia impressing after his return from injury, particularly in Chelsea's 2-0 win over Manchester United. Lavia's performance was considered his best in a Chelsea shirt, sparking debate about whether he or Alex Scott is better suited to play alongside Caicedo. Chelsea is reportedly keen to sign Scott in January. The discussion is ongoing among fans on TalkingPoints.
The debate centers around Lavia's effectiveness when fit and his injury history since joining Chelsea from Southampton in 2023. Fans believe Lavia is ideal alongside Caicedo, but others think Lavia and Scott can coexist due to Lavia's injury issues. Bournemouth's stance on selling Scott has softened, and they are now willing to sell for the right price if they're not in a relegation battle.
The differing playing styles of Lavia and Scott are also being considered, with Scott being a dynamic box-to-box midfielder and Lavia exceling at sitting deep and maintaining possession. While Lavia's injury history is a concern, his partnership with Caicedo is seen as effective when he's fit. The cost of signing Scott, potentially around £100m, is also a factor in the discussion.

Source context
Chelsea’s midfield is once again a talking point, but this time the discussion has been a more positive one. Earlier in the season, Chelsea had a real problem in the middle of the park. While Moises Caicedo was injured, they were getting absolutely dominated and were conceding far too many chances. Since his return to the team, there has been a vast improvement, including over the weekend against Manchester United. Xabi Alonso’s men managed to keep a clean sheet after beating United 2-0 at Stamford Bridge. Caicedo played his part, but rather than the Ecuadorian, it was actually his midfield partner Romeo Lavia who stole the show.
