Michael Carrick arrived at Manchester United's Carrington training complex amid ongoing crisis talks over his job as head coach, according to United In Focus. The visit was to watch the Manchester United academy, specifically the U21s take on Hull City in a behind-closed-doors friendly. Carrick's future is uncertain following a 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth, leaving United 17th in the Premier League. United chief executive Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox were seen arriving at Carrington on Monday morning for talks.
Carrick's position as Manchester United head coach is under threat due to the team's poor performance, with just two wins from 12 games across all competitions. The 3-0 loss to Bournemouth has put him on the brink of being sacked, despite steadying the ship after Ruben Amorim's rocky reign. United are currently 17th in the Premier League and just a point above the relegation zone. Talks about Carrick's future have been ongoing with club executives since the defeat.
The uncertainty surrounding Carrick's future is causing concern, with United needing to offer clarity to help the team come to terms with the situation. Carrick's arrival at Carrington to watch the U21s game shows he remains focused on serving the club. Potential replacements for Carrick include Eddie Howe and Julian Nagelsmann, although fans believe the root of the problem lies with the ownership rather than the head coach.
