“Absolute leader” wants to leave Man United, he doesn’t want club renewing his contract

Lisandro Martinez’s Manchester United career could be heading towards its final months, with the defender reportedly keen to leave Old Trafford and showing no interest in signing a new contract.

The 28-year-old is out of contract next summer, although United hold an option to extend his deal by another 12 months. That clause would normally give the club some protection, but the situation has become complicated after Martinez’s public criticism of the hierarchy following the defeat to Atletico Madrid.

United themselves are also said to have reservations about triggering the extension.
