Sassuolo v Milan: Why defensive focus is a must for the Rossoneri

Ahead of Sassuolo - Milan match, the Rossoneri must prepare for a match in which balance and defensive discipline could make all the difference. Sassuolo have shown that they can pose a threat going forward, although they also leave spaces and concede chances to their opponents.

Indeed, in their first five Serie A matches, they have both scored and conceded in every game. Milan’s priority, therefore, will be to find the right defensive solidity without sacrificing their attacking quality, exploiting the potential weaknesses in the Emilian side’s backline.

Rabiot-Musah: the right midfield pairing? The choice of midfielders could prove decisive for precisely this reason. Milan are expected to stick with their usual back three, but the midfielders’ ability to provide defensive cover could be crucial.
