Valverde, for his part, was forced into a premature departure from Real Madrid’s most recent outing. After slotting in at right-back for Los Blancos’ showdown with arch rivals Barcelona, the Uruguayan was forced off just beyond the hour mark with a muscular complaint.
Speaking to the media post-match, José Mourinho revealed that Valverde had actually played through the pain barrier for 40 minutes, after suffering the problem during the first-half.
