Craig’s Column: I Love Virgil van Dijk, But Liverpool May Have To Make A Painful Decision

Van Dijk And Alisson Could Leave Liverpool Facing A Defining Summer There’s a conversation I’ve been putting off having about Virgil van Dijk, partly because I don’t know the answer and partly because I don’t particularly want to think about it.

Should Liverpool give our captain another contract when his current deal expires at the end of the season? A few weeks ago, I’d have said yes without hesitation.

Now I’m genuinely on the fence. That doesn’t mean I think Virgil is finished. I certainly don’t agree with anybody suggesting he’s overrated. We’re talking about one of the greatest defenders I’ve ever watched in a Liverpool shirt.
