(Only) 1 winner and 4 losers from Arsenal's embarrassing defeat to Fleetwood
Story updated
The story in brief
7-second readArsenal lost away at Fleetwood on penalties on Tuesday night, and here are the winners and losers from the tie from the Gunners' perspective.
From the source
Arsenal suffered what will almost definitely be the most embarrassing moment of their season on Tuesday night when they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by League Two Fleetwood Town at Highbury Stadium.
Mikel Arteta rang the changes, as you do for an early-round League Cup game, but this came back to bite the Spanish manager. The makeshift eleven he fielded looked extremely disjointed in the first half, and Fleetwood capitalised, taking the lead courtesy of an inexperienced defensive moment from Marli Salmon.
While the Gunners utterly dominated the second half and found an equaliser via Viktor Gyokeres, they were never quite able to break through and find the winner, despite creating several good chances.
