Ronald Araujo has done enough during his loan spell to earn plenty of admirers inside Anfield, but anyone expecting Liverpool to rush through a permanent deal in January might be waiting a while.
Reports of Barcelona wanting to accelerate a move are understandable from their side of things, yet the picture from Liverpool’s end looks rather different, and we think patience is very much the smart play here.
Barcelona’s motivation is not hard to follow. Getting Araujo’s fee booked early would help their own finances, and offloading his wages sooner rather than later clearly appeals to a club that has had its own well documented budgetary headaches in recent years.
