The story in brief

28-second read

We saw a significant change at Newcastle United ahead of summer 2026. It became clear that the club were moving to a new model when it came to player recruitment and transfers in and out generally.

Rather than the Head Coach Eddie Howe being the main man when it came to transfers, it was now Newcastle United Sporting Director Ross Wilson.

Many other clubs in the modern game do the same. David Hopkinson of course in charge of the business side of the football club on a day to day business, with now Ross Wilson in charge of the football side.
