Vinai Venkatesham spent 14 years at Arsenal before making the move across north London to become Tottenham’s chief executive. It’s fair to say it hasn’t won him many fans in N17.
Some Spurs supporters have even joked that he’s an “Arsenal plant”, sent to sabotage the club from within. He appeared on the latest episode of The Sports Agents podcast, where he spoke honestly about the state of the club he walked into.
Asked how Spurs compared to the Arsenal he’d left, Venkatesham was careful not to criticise his predecessors. He praised the club’s “amazing foundations”, pointing to “the fabulous training ground and the outstanding stadium”.
