Alan Shearer blasts Joao Gomes and 'weak' Aston Villa star in Brentford footage

Story updated

The story in brief

33-second read

Alan Shearer wasn't happy with Aston Villa 's defending in the lead up to Brentford 's second-half equaliser. It was a back and forth game between the Villains and the Bees on Saturday afternoon, finishing 2-2.

Brentford took the lead on 10 minutes but were immediately pegged back thanks to Nicolas Jackson 's goal two minutes later. History would then repeat itself in the second half, only this time it was the away side equalising on 79 minutes.

Kristoffer Ajer's leveller came just two minutes after John McGinn had seemingly handed Unai Emery 's side all three points. A win would've been another big step in the right direction for Villa, but some lapses in concentration at the back cost them dearly.
