The story in brief
30-second readPlenty of Arsenal fans couldn’t understand why Mikel Arteta signed Christian Norgaard last year, only to barely use him. He arrived from Brentford for around £10million with years of Premier League experience and the captain’s armband at his old club, yet he spent most of the season on the bench.
He made seven appearances in the league and 20 in all competitions. His only Premier League start came on the final day at Crystal Palace, with the title already wrapped up.
Many fans questioned why Arteta had brought him in at all, and when he joined Everton for around £7m in August , the move seemed to suit everyone.
