From the source

Mathys Tel consistently featured for Tottenham Hotspur last season, making 31 Premier League appearances last term, mostly from the bench. He had a big role in Spurs avoiding relegation last term under Roberto De Zerbi.

After a slow start to the 2026/27 season, the Frenchman has started adding a bit more consistency to his game. He has started five of Tottenham’s eight Premier League fixtures, scoring a superb solo goal against Chelsea to help secure a memorable victory at Stamford Bridge in October.

Roberto De Zerbi praised the youngster’s work ethic and vowed to unlock his true potential after the Chelsea win. During the off-season, Mathys Tel faced an uncertain future amid suggestions that he was keen to seek a fresh start elsewhere in pursuit of a more prominent role.
