Borussia Dortmund manager Niko Kovac was content after his team beat Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga on Saturday, with Maximilian Beier's 80th-minute strike earning them all three points. Dortmund temporarily assumed top spot in the league table with 17 points in seven games. The win was Dortmund's first in the Bundesliga this month, following draws against Werder Bremen and Union Berlin. It was their second consecutive official win, having also beaten Sabah FK in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Dortmund started the match strongly, with Fabio Silva and Serhou Guirassy having early attempts on goal, though they were unable to find a breakthrough in the first half. Daniel Svensson rattled the crossbar from a corner, but the team couldn't capitalize on their chances. It wasn't until the second half, with the introduction of substitutes, that Dortmund maintained pressure and eventually scored.
The winning goal was scored by Maximilian Beier, who controlled and volleyed a pass from Jobe Bellingham into the far corner just 15 seconds after coming on. Unlike their last two games, Dortmund created clear-cut chances and limited Frankfurt's forwards, Younes Ebnoutalib and Jonathan Burkardt. Kovac was delighted with the win, especially given Dortmund's recent fixture list and travels to Norway, Berlin, and Azerbaijan.
