With Liverpool up next in just three days, Alonso will have been frustrated to lose two more players during the win over Everton. Emi Martinez has since undergone jaw surgery, which has been successful.
But Martinez’s injury is the latest in a string of problems, despite Alonso keeping the likes of Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro, Moises Caicedo and Marco Palestra at Cobham during the break.
