Real Madrid star Thibaut Courtois has this week admitted that teammate Kylian Mbappé already has one eye on the Ballon d’Or award for 2027. Frontman Mbappé was of course left disappointed at the Ballon d’Or gala for the latest occasion last week.
Amongst the very frontrunners to be named world football’s best player for the last 12 months, the Frenchman ultimately lost out to Bayern Munich goalscorer Harry Kane.
Mbappé finished 2nd in the voting, just missing out on a prestigious accolade which has evaded the 27-year-old throughout his glittering career to date. As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from Spain’s capital is anything to go by, then Mbappé appears far from ready to give up on his ‘Golden Ball’ dreams.
