Coventry City 4 Newcastle United 1 Where was the urgency?

Story updated

The story in brief

27-second read

Coventry 4 Newcastle 1 – Monday 12 October 2026 8pm Where was the urgency? Newcastle United started slowly, were wasteful in possession and gave away four free-kicks in the first six minutes, notably the foul by Hornicek.

The ball bounces off him far too often. Botman was also culpable for the penalty incident. Murphy, Wissa and Barnes, our most experienced players, were sloppy.

Four offsides stalled our momentum. Fernandez-Pardo should have equalised in a first half we dominated but the failure to take chances was worrying. The absence of half-time substitutes surprised me, considering our lack of bite.
