Story updated
The story in brief
33-second readArsenal have reached the point where Mikel Arteta can rotate his defence without anybody really noticing the difference. William Saliba has been absent all season and the Gunners are still the only side in the Champions League yet to concede a goal after two matchdays.
Arteta has the luxury to regularly rotate his side now — he made five changes in the 3-0 win against Lille. The squad he has assembled over the past few windows is deep enough that second choice rarely feels like a downgrade at all.
That’s especially evident in defence. Gary Neville has pointed it out again, and has picked out one specific position to show just how far ahead of his former club Arsenal now are.
