From the source
Crystal Palace have lost their appeal against Jean-Philippe Mateta's red card in the defeat by Tottenham on Saturday. The striker was shown a straight red by referee Michael Oliver for a late challenge on Micky van de Ven when the game was still 0-0, after just 13 minutes.
Oliver originally gave a yellow card but it was upgraded after a video assistant referee review. The France forward will now miss three matches - Sunday's fixture at Liverpool, the trip to Coventry on 21 November and a home game against Hull on 29 November.
The Liverpool match could have a bearing on manager Pierre Sage's long-term future at Palace after a disappointing start to his reign. Mateta caught Spurs defender Van de Ven on top of the ankle but in Palace's view the impact was accidental.
