Newcastle United’s attacking struggles have become increasingly difficult to ignore under Matthias Jaissle, with the Magpies sitting just four points above the Premier League relegation zone in November.
Their recent 1-0 home defeat against Everton offered little encouragement, particularly after another toothless display against the same opponents in the Carabao Cup. Newcastle failed to register a shot on target until the 86th minute against Everton and managed just one attempt against Aston Villa in their previous home defeat.
Such numbers highlight the difficulty Jaissle’s side face when opponents defend deep and restrict their attacking movements. Anthony Elanga remains the primary right-wing option, although the Swede has struggled to influence matches consistently.
