Mikel Arteta will come up against one of his childhood friends when he takes Arsenal to face Liverpool this weekend. The Arsenal manager is focused on retaining the Premier League title he won at the Emirates last season, but he knows the scale of the challenge awaiting him and his players at Anfield.
Liverpool have made an impressive start under Andoni Iraola, who took charge at the beginning of the campaign following an excellent spell as Bournemouth manager.
Arteta and Iraola have known each other since childhood. They grew up in the same neighbourhood, became friends and played alongside each other before beginning their respective journeys in football.
