Chelsea remain in the market for new signings, and if anything Saturday’s defeat taught Xabi Alonso, it was the need for another striker. One option has just earned huge praise from Jurgen Klopp.
Joao Pedro was missing from Saturday’s squad after picking up a knee injury in training. Despite making the obvious change and bringing in Danny Welbeck, Alonso decided to put Morgan Rogers up front.
Not only didn’t it work, but it also told Welbeck that Alonso doesn’t trust him enough to start him. At the same time, Emmanuel Emegha is yet to make his debut.
