Newcastle United manager Matthias Jaissle is addressing defensive issues ahead of their match against Everton, citing individual mistakes that led to conceding soft goals. Jaissle noted that Newcastle has conceded 14 Premier League goals, more than most teams except Chelsea, Ipswich, Coventry, and Palace. He emphasized the need to avoid individual mistakes, especially when the opposition is not dominant. The team is preparing for Monday's match at St James' Park.
Jaissle reflected on Newcastle's recent Carabao Cup match against Everton, where they won 3-1 but failed to capitalize on their dominance. The team had 28 shots to Everton's 11 and 10 corners to 4, but struggled to turn their superiority into goals. Jaissle acknowledged the need to be more clinical and avoid gifting the opposition goals.
Newcastle is also dealing with an injury concern, as William Osula twisted his ankle during a recent match. Jaissle is uncertain about Osula's fitness for the Everton match, stating it's too early to say. Jaissle also highlighted the need for the team to be more efficient in scoring goals from the many opportunities they create.

Source context
Matthias Jaissle has been talking ahead of Newcastle United facing Everton on Monday night. It comes only four days after the two teams met at the Hill Dickinson Stadium in the Carabao Cup. That was a 3-1 victory for the home side as they progressed to the quarter-finals of that competition. For Newcastle United it was a match where they failed to turn their dominance (28 v 11 on shots, 10 v 4 on corners, 37 v 17 touches of the ball in the opposition penalty area etc etc) into a victory. Failure to turn territorial superiority and getting into great areas into goals, whilst at the other end it was yet more individual mistakes that helped gift the opposition their goals.
