The Barcelona winger had been among the leading contenders for football’s most prestigious individual award after another successful season with club and country. Having finished 10th in 2024 and second in 2025, Yamal has once again placed among the world’s top three players, with only Kane and Kylian Mbappe ahead of him.
Yamal helped Barcelona win La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup during the 2025/26 campaign before playing a part in Spain’s World Cup triumph. He finished the season with 25 goals and 20 assists in 57 appearances for Barcelona, including 16 goals and 12 assists in La Liga.
