Chelsea faced off against Liverpool at Anfield earlier tonight as they hoped to secure a good result on the road in the EFL Cup. The Blues made a good start to the contest and scored the opener in the 40th minute thanks to Morgan Rogers’ penalty.

However, Cody Gakpo equalised from the penalty spot just three minutes later as Xabi Alonso’s players went into the half-time interval with a 1-1 scoreline.

The West London club tried to score the winner in the second 45 minutes, but the match finished 1-1 at full-time. Chelsea ended up losing the match on penalties by a 6-5 margin.
